Everyone Else Showed Up
I’ve been writing about the rotation all week, and Friday’s close made it plain: small caps up 2%, energy at record highs, and the Nasdaq down for a second straight week.
The Saturday Review is my trading journal, published every Saturday morning. What I traded, what it cost me, and what I got wrong.
No. 6 · Week ending 23 October 2026
Before anything else
Saturday mornings allow me to spend quality time in the Word, so this is where the week's review begins, before a single chart is opened.
"Commit your work to the Lord. and your plans will be established"
I spent some time this morning really thinking about this verse and what it means. What does it mean to commit my work to the Lord? What does commit mean? How will my plans be established? All throughout scripture God calls his people to trust him and to walk in faith. For us as human beings this is probably the hardest thing to do. To trust in someone without any reassurances and not have any guarantees of a certain outcome is hard, we like to do everything ourselves because we feel it is on our control and the outcome is in our control, but the reality is, it's not.
To commit something to someone means to hand it over, to give, assign or entrust it to that person. This is what God wants from us, to take our plans that we make, our work and daily toil and give it to him. He will help us and carry the burden. Proverbs 3:5-6 says: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths".
Okay, so now we give it to him, then what? Well, it says "your plans WILL be established".... How? Don't worry about it, it is not for us to be concerned about how God will do this. In the book of Job, chapter 38, God responds to Job asking him if he knows how the world works, how it was made, how it is governed? None of us do. God is sovereign and in control of everything. So how will my plans be established? I don't know! All I know is that the God who created everything and rules over everything tells me it will, so don't worry about it.
This is what I want to challenge myself with: To continually pray and ask the Holy Spirit to remind me of this, commit my work to Him and have the faith that everything will work out for my benefit according to His will and purposes.
The scorecard
Realized this week, and where that leaves the year.
| This week | YTD 2026 | Since May 2025 | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Realized return | -0.16% | +12.57% | +18.84% |
This was one of the quietest trading weeks I've had in a while and I'm very pleased about it. I had a plan going into the week and happy to say that I executed pretty well. The only trade this week was a position closed that was not working well to free up capital and to rebalance my portfolio a bit. Other than that, I took positions in some key names according to my plan and now waiting for it to show me my next moves.
At the end of last week, I took a step back and re-evaluated my actions and results for this year and realized how off-track I've gone from my core strategy. The re-allignment seems to be working and I just have to disciplined so that I can stay on course.

As you can see from my equity curve, I had a bit of a hiccup to start the year but then figured it out and had a good run up to the start of the summer. This is where market conditions started changing and I started drifting away from my playbook. It took a couple of months and a nasty drawdown to realize it, and now I hope to start correcting the ship and start climbing out of this hole.
Note: the realized return above are closed trades. The equity curve includes open positions.
Where the market stands
It's become clear over the last week that there is a rotation busy happening. Money is flowing out of large tech stocks and into other, more traditional sectors and that is the reason for the rise in the RSP. As long as the SPY remains in this range and above the support level, I still consider this a health market and there should be no reason to fear. It might still take a while for the rotation to sort it self out before the SPY could gain some traction again. For now, I'm still looking where the money is flowing and trying to find opportunities in the strongest groups rather than keep focusing on certain sectors

The throttle
This week's light: [ 🟠 AMBER ]
It's pretty clear that we are in a rotation environment and the light stays amber until the SPY starts trending above the 21EMA, or the RSP falls below. Right now the RSP has closed the week above its 50SMA and I see this a very constructive price action
Sentiment gauge

Reading: +0.54
The sentiment has fallen into a state of extreme fear. The VIX is trending higher a bit and the news tone is very bearish, but yet, the index prices are holding up pretty well. Two things can happen from here: Either the mood persists and eventually price cracks and we see a massive capitulation taking us into a bear market OR the sentiment starts changing, catching up with price which means the fearful people currently sitting on the sidelines will start jumping in and the bears will start covering shorts and this will ignite the next move higher. In my view, option 2 is the more likely outcome.
Everyone is focused on the AI-trade, but opportunities are moving elsewhere while the AI-trade takes a breather.
The book

I'm very happy with the positions I'm currently in. The new positions entered were all planned for last week and are inline with my strategy and playbook. My risk is well managed with reasonable position sizes and I'm just waiting for the next moved so that I can look at adding more. Genesis Anchor is my long term portfolio, I'm sitting heavy on SPCX, but after the good earnings earlier this week, I do think there is still a lot of potential for growth in this stock in the coming years.
A brief explanation on the 2 sections: I have 2 accounts that I trade in and a different strategy for each account. Velocity is a swing trading strategy which I trade in a margin account and Anchor is a position trading strategy that I trade in my registered retirement savings account.
Last Monday's plan vs what happened
- Planned: After last week, I went back to the drawing board to re-align. Re-adjusted my screeners to focus on the core of Genesis Velocity and found a couple of good names that fit all my criteria. I added some to my actionable watchlist to see if I could find entries in any
- Happened: I stayed patient and waited for the right time according to my entry tactics and opened pilot positions in a couple of them $LYFT $YETI $PGY and $CRCL.
- The one I got wrong: I treaded very lightly this week and can honestly say, I did not put a foot wrong this week and proud of myself for that.
Mistake Audit
There isn't anything to mention this week. The only trade closed this week was out of choice and resulted in a small realized loss.
Cellys
Overall, it was a good week, not because of a specific trade but because I was disciplined and stuck to my plan and that is worth celebrating this week. The portfolio is up 2% this week and i'm looking forward to seeing this grow in order to get back out of this drawdown.
The week ahead
There isn't much more for me to do other than wait. I've taken position in some good setups and I'm waiting for them to stretch their legs. However, I have come across a couple more names that I'm very interested in and adding them to the watchlists to keep an eye on.
Launchpad Watchlist: Stocks on my extended list that are forming an actionable setup - $OMCL $U $BMNR $AGIO $PII
Ignition Alert: Stocks that have formed the launchpad and are actionable - $KOS $VNOM $FSLY $ELF
Sector read: At this point, Software, Cloud & IT Services and Cybersecurity are still the strongest group. There seems to be a strong push from Energy and Healthcare stocks as well. So far, everything is holding up well and I don't see any reason to be concerned.
What would change my mind: The only thing that can derail the momentum that's busy building is a big scare coming from a geo-political event, given what's going on in the world, I don't think it's totally out of the question. So far everything is holding up well and if the status quo remains good things are coming
